2023 Giving Tuesday
Men's Rugby
Established in 1975 “The Outlaws,” as they were formerly called, hit the pitch as the first students to don a rugby sweater. Since that year, hundreds of student-athletes have played, from a club team to a varsity program today competing at the highest level in the country, culminating in the 2021 National Championship. Today, the men's rugby program has a 70-player roster consisting of both a varsity and junior varsity team.
The St. Bonaventure University men’s varsity rugby program competes in the Rugby East Conference as part of National Collegiate Rugby.
St. Bonaventure University’s rugby program is committed to providing an academically challenging education and an elite varsity rugby experience. We look to attract student-athletes of diverse backgrounds and means who will mentally and physically challenge themselves, and who will represent their families, team, and university with the highest standards on and off the pitch.
The St. Bonaventure University rugby staff, team leaders, and alumni teach our student-athletes to take responsibility for their lives, to lead with integrity, to act justly in service of their teammates and community, and to pursue excellence in every endeavor. Ultimately, we are committed to instilling our Franciscan values of compassion, wisdom, and integrity through an elite varsity rugby experience.
