As part of University Ministries, the Franciscan Center for Social Concern (FCSC) offers opportunities for students to engage with the poor and marginalized of our society. The service programs include the Warming House, Bona Buddies, Silver Wolves, the SBU Food Pantry, and more.
The FCSC is made up of a lot of moving parts: student volunteers, generous donors such as yourself, and the FCSC team. The FCSC team is a motivated group of undergraduate and graduate student employees and volunteers who take time out of their academic schedules to organize and accomplish all of the behind-the-scene tasks that make achieving our mission possible. For this academic year, these students are: Hannah Gonsiorek, ’22 & ‘23, Annika Spitzer, ’26, Joseph LaPietra, ’26, Anargha Ganguly, ’26 and Mike Waseda, ’21 and ’23. Each of these individuals has their own story of how they found the FCSC and what inspired them to be a part of the journey. Plus, they each specialize in a unique skill that enables them to contribute tremendous value to all that we do. Working in the FCSC allows SBU students to gain real-life experience in accounting, grant writing, development, communications and social media.
Your contribution during #GivingTuesdayatBonas will help to ensure that the FCSC continues to offer service and social justice programs that change lives and allow students to learn while they serve.
