Hello, my name is Cailee Pollard I'm from Buffalo New York, and am currently a freshman here at St. Bonaventure University. I'm currently going for early childhood education, childhood education, and special needs. From a very young age I've also known that I wanted to be a school and dance teacher. I have been assistant teaching dance for six years now and have been babysitting for families for about eight years. Over these past years I've realized my love for working with kids and getting to see the joy on their faces when they accomplish things weather that’s in a school setting or other interests that they may have. Here at St. Bonaventure one of the clubs I'm apart of is called Bona Buddies. In this club us students are paired up with kids from schools nearby and once a week we get to hang out with them. The first hour we do whatever it is our buddy might have in mind, we might help with their homework, read, play outside, etc. For the second hour we will do a group activity including all the kids and their mentors. The best part about bona buddies is getting to see the smiles on the kids’ faces, for some of these kids this is the highlight of their week. Hearing my buddy say, "I don't want to leave", "I can't wait for next week", always makes me happy and excited for the next week.
