Hi everyone!

My name is Abigail Cloud. I am a senior Biology major and Philosophy, Ethics, and Medicine minor. I am a coordinator for the SBU Food Pantry. The SBU Food Pantry was founded in 2019 when it was discovered that members of the Bonaventure community faced food insecurity. Food insecurity is defined as the lack of consistent access to food. The Temple’s University Hope Center for College, Community, and Justice found in 2019 that about 39% of students nationwide experienced food insecurity. Food insecurity is associated with lower rates of graduation and reduced achievement of higher education. The SBU Food Pantry strives to provide staff, faculty, and students at St. Bonaventure University with food. Twice a month, coordinators go shopping at local stores to stock the Food Pantry with a wide variety of foods, including pastas, frozen meals, and canned goods.
