Hey!

My name is Ryan Bauer and I am a sophomore Warming House Coordinator.  I volunteered every Tuesday last year and every Thursday this year.  I was brought on as a coordinator this year and have been enjoying every second of it.  Over the summer I put in a lending library for the Warming House guests to enjoy.

Working at the Warming House has allowed me to take part in my community and help the people that need it the most.  At the Warming House I help the manager prep/cook/plate all the meals and help the volunteers do the best that they can do.  I have begun to form relationships with the guests this year, as last year the Warming House only offered take-out meals.  It has been amazing getting to meet the people that I have been serving and learn more about them.  Sometimes all people need is a smile to turn their day around.  There is a mood change in some guests after they walk in, their face will light up and they are excited to talk to us about anything under the sun.  

While at the Warming House, not only have I been able to help my community, but I have been able to make friends that I otherwise would never have.  I have met some great friends that transends the Warming House.  

Supporting the Warming House means supporting the people of Olean.  The people are some of the kindest people I know that just need a little bit of help.  Any support is greatly appreciated!
